Following Exercitium, Mimesis is the ensemble's second program dedicated entirely to the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Inspired by the example of the sonata BWV 1039, which Bach himself transcribed for viola da gamba and harpsichord from an earlier version for two traversos and basso continuo, Laterna Magica has adapted the sonata BWV 1015 for violin and harpsichord, as well as the sonata BWV 527\u2014originally composed for organ\u2014for its own ensemble, consisting of two recorders and basso continuo.
